The bell at the top of the screen opens the Illizeo notification centre: requests to approve, decisions on your requests, documents to sign, alerts, mentions, congratulations… This article explains how to read these notifications, act from a card, mark them as read, archive them and find them again. It is for all users.
Before you start #
- No particular permission is needed: everyone sees their own notifications.
- You only see the tabs of the modules activated in your space that your role gives access to. The All, Alerts and Congratulations tabs are open to everyone.
- What you receive, and through which channel, is set in your preferences (see Choosing your notifications).
Opening the bell #
The number on the bell shows your unread notifications. Click the bell: the Notifications panel opens, with the number of new notifications next to the title.

Tabs sort the notifications by area: All, then for example Absences, Attendance, Approvals, Expenses, Payroll, Signature, Performance, Flex Office, Scheduling, Alerts, Projects, Congratulations and Budget, plus the tabs of your other modules. Each tab shows its number of unread notifications.
Reading and opening a notification #
- An unread card is highlighted. It shows who is concerned, what happened and how long ago.
- Click the card to mark it as read.
- When the card names an item as a link (a leave, an expense report, a task), click that link: the panel closes and the page concerned opens.
- In the Alerts tab, each alert shows its level: Important, To check, Validated or Information.
Acting from a card #
Some cards carry buttons, depending on your permissions:
- a request to approve (leave, a request going through an approval workflow): Approve or Decline. To decline, enter the reason, then confirm;
- a document to sign in Illizeo: Sign, Decline or Delegate;
- an approval delegation offered by a colleague: Accept or Decline;
- a mention in a thread: a Reply… field to answer without leaving the panel.
A card waiting for your decision only becomes read once the decision is made. If the decision fails (request already decided, reason missing), a message explains why and the card goes back to its previous state. Expense reports are approved from their own page: the card takes you there. How approval circuits work is described in Flows & approvals.
Marking everything as read #
At the bottom of the panel, Mark all as read marks all your notifications as read, whatever tab is displayed. Requests waiting for your decision still need to be handled.
Archiving notifications #
- Go to the tab you want to clear.
- Click Archive all at the bottom of the panel.
- The Archive notifications? window shows how many notifications are displayed out of the tab’s total. Choose Archive the N shown or Archive all N in the tab, or Cancel.
Requests waiting for your decision are never archived: they stay in the bell, and a message says how many stayed. The gear menu, to the right of the tabs, offers the same action under Delete: it archives the current tab, after the same confirmation, without erasing anything.
Finding an archived notification #
- At the bottom of the panel, click Archived.
- Archived notifications are listed in pages of 20, with their archiving date (Previous, Next to change page).
- Click Restore on a card to put it back in the bell, or Restore all to put back the cards of the page displayed.
- Back to notifications returns to the bell.

Adjusting the panel #
The gear, to the right of the tabs, opens the Edit menu:
- Width: a slider widens or narrows the panel;
- Card style: Divided (cards separated by a line) or Boxed (each card in a frame).
These settings only affect your own display.

Good to know #
- The panel loads the most recent notifications of each tab; the numbers on the bell and on the tabs do count all your unread notifications.
- To be alerted even when you are working in another browser tab, turn on browser alerts in your preferences.
- The Training and Flex Office modules also have their own notification and reminder pages (see Administering the Training module and Flex Office: notifications).
FAQ #
I cannot see a module’s tab. #
The tab only appears if the module is activated in your space and your role gives access to it. Without that access, its notifications do not appear under All either. Ask your administrator to check your role.
I archived a request by mistake. #
A request waiting for your decision cannot be archived. For any other notification, open Archived and click Restore.
Some notifications no longer reach my bell. #
Check in your preferences that the Dashboard column is ticked for that event. If the box is greyed out, your company has locked it.
