The Attendance & badge clocks module records your employees’ working time, from daily clocking through to the hours passed to payroll. This article introduces the module’s screens, the life of a month of attendance and which article to read for each topic.
Before you start #
- The Attendance module must be enabled for your space. Without it, the Presence tab of the profile, the attendance calendar and the time management settings do not appear.
- Each employee needs an attendance profile (working-hours profile): without one, their timesheet shows “Attendance profile required” and they can neither clock in nor enter time.
- What each person sees depends on their role’s permissions (role matrix, Time Management section). Permissions are listed in Administering the Attendance module.
What the module does #

The module’s screens #
- Profile › Presence: an employee’s timesheet, with the Timesheet, Hour Counters, History and Allowances tabs (each subject to your permissions). The My attendance quick action on the dashboard opens your own.
- Calendar › Attendance calendar: the team’s worked hours, day by day.
- Workflows › Attendance: timesheets and days to approve. Workflows › Badge reader clock-ins: quarantined badge clock punches.
- Settings › Time Management: the Attendances (work profiles), Company Rules, Presence reasons, Allowances, On-Call and Badge clocks tiles.

The life of a month of attendance #
- The employee records their time: they clock in (header, dashboard or badge clock) or enter their days in their timesheet, depending on the modes their profile allows.
- They correct it if needed until entry closing (by default, the previous month stays editable until the 5th of the following month).
- They submit the month with the Submit button. The days move to “Submitted”.
- The approver decides in Workflows › Attendance. The circuit used depends on the content of the timesheet (overtime, a rule not respected, flexible hours).
- Counters are recalculated on approval: overtime, night, Saturday, Sunday, public holiday hours, time accounts.
- Payroll receives quantities (hours, days), never amounts calculated by the Attendance module.

Good to know #
- A day can take three forms: start and end times, a duration, or a day-rate (half day or full day). The form of each day comes from the profile’s schedule.
- Geolocated clocking on a shift belongs to the Scheduling module: see Clock-in and geofencing. Clocking from the header or the dashboard sends no location.
- Shift planning (Scheduling) and leave (Absence management) have their own categories in the help centre.
- Several timesheet screens exist in French and English only: a user working in German or Italian sees them in English.
