Continuous feedback lets you recognise a strength or point out an area of improvement as things happen, without waiting for the review campaign. Each piece of feedback is short, dated, filed under a category and attached to the person who receives it. This article is for everyone: employees, managers and HR.
Before you start #
- The Performance module must be enabled for you.
- Reading a person’s feedback requires the “Comments — View” permission (PERFORMANCE section of the role matrix, Access level), and that person must be within your role’s population. By default, every role supplied with Illizeo holds it.
- Giving feedback requires “Comment — Add” at the Execute level. By default, it is granted to the Administrator, HR Manager, Manager, All employees and “All employees — on others” roles.
- You can never give feedback to yourself.
The Continuous Performance tab #
Open a person’s profile, then Performance and the Continuous Performance tab. In your own Performance space, the same tab shows the feedback you have received.
- Three figures: Feedbacks received, Positive (as a percentage) and Constructive (areas of improvement).
- By category: one tile per category, with the number of feedback items and how many are positive. Click a tile to filter the list.
- The All, Positive and Constructive filters, and the Search a feedback… magnifier.
- The list, ten items per page: author, date, type, category, and the Private badge where relevant.
The list follows the cycle chosen at the top of the screen and the contract selected in the profile header.

Giving feedback #
Two routes lead to the same form:
- from the person’s Continuous Performance tab, with the + New Feedback button;
- from any page of their profile, through the three-dot menu in the header, Give feedback entry.
- Choose the Type: Positive (recognition, strength) or Constructive (area of improvement).
- Choose a Category if you wish: Leadership, Collaboration, Communication, Innovation, Results, Time Management or Mentoring.
- Enter the Date (required).
- Write the Message (required).
- Tick Private feedback if the person concerned must not read it (see below).
- Click Add Feedback.
The feedback is attached to the contract selected in the profile header.

Who sees what #
| Reader | What they see |
|---|---|
| The person who receives the feedback | All of their feedback, except items marked private. |
| A reader whose role covers the person (manager, HR, administrator, auditor, depending on the role’s population) | All of the person’s feedback, private items included. |
| A colleague who may give feedback without reading the person’s performance | Only the feedback they have given themselves. |
Private feedback is therefore hidden from the person concerned only: everyone who reads their performance can see it.
Feedback between colleagues #
When the All employees role holds “Comment — Add” at the Execute level, every active employee can give feedback to another active employee shown to them in the directory, even outside their team. On that colleague’s profile, the tab is then titled Feedback you have given: it shows only your own feedback, with the Feedback given counter. Other people’s feedback is not visible to you.
Editing or deleting feedback #
Only the author of a feedback item can edit or delete it, from its card in the list:
- editing opens the Edit Feedback window, then Save;
- deleting asks for confirmation (“Delete this feedback?”).
A manager or HR cannot edit or delete feedback written by someone else.
The monthly reminder to managers #
The supplied “Continuous feedback reminder” workflow, active by default, sends each manager a reminder at the start of every month, by email and in Illizeo notifications: “Reminder: please give feedback to your team members this month.” An administrator can switch it off in Settings › Manage Employees › Workflows, Global settings tab, Performance group, Periodic reminder for continuous feedback switch (see Administering the Performance module).
Good to know #
- Giving feedback triggers no notification: neither the person concerned nor their manager is told. They find it in the tab.
- Continuous feedback is not part of the end-of-cycle dossier, which only brings together campaign reviews.
- On a profile where you can only see the header, the Give feedback entry is not offered.
FAQ #
I cannot see the New Feedback button. #
You may be on your own page (you cannot give yourself feedback), or your role does not hold “Comment — Add” at the Execute level.
An employee is reading feedback their manager thought was restricted. #
Only items ticked Private feedback are hidden from them. Feedback that is not ticked can be read by the person concerned.
Can I give feedback from the employee directory? #
Open the person’s full profile, then use the three-dot menu in the header or the Continuous Performance tab.
