Settings bring together everything that is configured for the whole company: the organisation, employees, each module and the platform itself. This article explains how to open them, how they are organised, how to find a page and why two administrators do not necessarily see the same cards. It is for the administrators and HR staff who configure Illizeo.
Before you start #
- Settings open with the “Settings — Access” permission, in the “Platform administration” menu of the role matrix (“Module access” section, Access level). By default, only the Administrator role holds it.
- Each page also requires its own permission, with the Access level to view it and, in most cases, the Execute level to save on it. Permissions are set in Settings › Manage Employees › Employee Roles (see Permissions & roles).
- Do not confuse company Settings with Personal Settings, which every employee opens from their avatar (Settings section) to set their own preferences.
Opening Settings #
- In the navigation rail on the left, find the Settings icon, pinned at the bottom above Help.
- Hover over it: a second column lists every page, grouped by section. Sections are collapsed; expand the one you need and click the page.
- Or click the icon: the Settings page opens on a grid of cards, one per area.

The grid and its cards #
Each card in the grid opens an area. Depending on the modules in your workspace, you will find in particular:
- Manage Organization: companies, offices, departments, teams and the other objects of the organisation.
- Manage Illizeo: the platform settings (see below).
- Manage Employees: profile fields, groups, roles and their permissions.
- One card per module: Payroll, Expenses, Recruitment, Time Management, Documents, Performance, On-Off/Boarding, Surveys, Whistleblowing, HR requests, Swiss payroll, Canadian payroll, Morocco payroll, Budget & payroll costs, Annualised working time, Benefits, Training and Flex Office.
A card opens a page of tiles: one tile per settings page, with its title, a one-line explanation and the Configure link. The chevron at the top left takes you back one level. Some tiles open another page of tiles, such as Theme Settings, Global Settings or Support.
Finding a page with search #
On a wide screen, the Search features field is shown at the top of the grid.
- Type a few letters of the page or area name, for example “email” or “currency”. Accents and capitals do not matter.
- The grid is replaced by the matching pages, each with the name of its area.
- Click the card you want. Clear the field to get the grid back.
Search only suggests pages you are allowed to open.

Manage Illizeo: platform settings #
The Manage Illizeo card groups the settings that apply to the whole workspace. Its tiles are covered in the following sections of the help centre:
| Tiles | Where to find help |
|---|---|
| Theme Settings, Global Settings | Workspace logos and global settings |
| Support | Giving Illizeo Support access |
| Dashboard | Employee self-service |
| Authentication, Whitelisted IPs, Blocked IPs, Backup Manager, Compliance, Data Retention, Data Breaches, Data Subject Requests, Impact Assessments, Subprocessors and Transfers, GDPR Audit Log | Security & compliance |
| User Logs, Access Review | Governance & security |
| Emails | |
| Notifications | Alerts & notifications |
| Mobile app | Mobile app |
| API Tokens | REST API |
| Webhooks | Webhooks |
| SFTP server | SFTP exports |
Modules are not installed in Settings but in the app store (see Installing modules and choosing who can use them). The subscription is managed from your avatar menu (see Subscribing and changing your subscription).

Who sees what #
The grid adapts to the account that opens it. Four rules decide what is shown:
- Permissions: a tile only appears if your role holds the permission for its page. A card only appears if at least one of its pages is open to you. You therefore never see a page that would be refused to you.
- Enabled modules: a module’s card only appears if that module is subscribed and installed for your workspace. Uninstalling a module also removes its card from Settings.
- Your plan: the API Tokens and Webhooks tiles only appear if your plan includes these features. During the trial period, nothing is hidden for this reason.
- Subscription status: once the subscription has expired, the grid only shows the Manage Organization card.
The same filter applies to the rail’s second column and to search. While your permissions are loading, the grid shows grey placeholders: the cards appear as soon as your permissions are known.
Good to know #
- Typing the address of a page in the browser does not open a refused page: you are sent to an access-denied screen.
- There is one exception for Performance: people who launch or track review campaigns open the cycles page without the “Settings — Access” permission. They then only see that card and that page (see Setting up a review cycle and campaign).
- To entrust a single settings page to a role, give it “Settings — Access” and the permission for that page, and nothing else: it will only see the matching card and tile.
FAQ #
An HR manager cannot see the Settings icon. #
Their role does not hold “Settings — Access”. Add it in the role matrix, together with the permissions for the pages you want to entrust to them.
A module’s card has disappeared. #
The module is no longer installed or no longer covered by your subscription. Check its status in the app store.
