Přídavek na dítě — child benefit

Benefit paid by the Úřad práce ČR (employment offices), means-tested:

• 0–6: CZK 830/month (≈ €33)
• 6–15: CZK 970/month (≈ €38)
• 15–26 (studying): CZK 1,080/month (≈ €43)
• +CZK 500/month bonus if parent is working or pensioner
• Income cap: 3.4× family minimum living standard (~CZK 30,000/month for family of 4)

Rodičovský příspěvek — parental allowance

Lump-sum allowance for a parent caring for the child at home:

• CZK 350,000 total (≈ €14,000) per child
• CZK 525,000 for twins/triplets since 2024
• Spreadable: 6 months to 4 years
• Monthly amount varies with chosen pace (max CZK 13,000/month)
• No income cap, but condition of home care
• Partly retained if child is in nursery < 92h/month (until age 2)

Porodné — birth grant

Lump-sum for low-income families:

• CZK 13,000 (≈ €520) for 1st child
• CZK 10,000 (≈ €400) for 2nd child
• Income cap: 2.7× family minimum living standard
• One-off payment at birth

Daňové zvýhodnění — per-child tax credit

Monthly tax credit applied to salary:

• 1st child: CZK 15,204/year (CZK 1,267/month)
• 2nd child: CZK 22,320/year (CZK 1,860/month)
• 3rd child and beyond: CZK 27,840/year (CZK 2,320/month)
• If credit > tax due: refundable up to CZK 60,300/year (tax bonus)

Maternity and parental leave

Peněžitá pomoc v mateřství (PPM):

• Maternity leave: 28 weeks (37 twins+, 22 if adoption)
• Benefit: 70% of daily salary (capped ~CZK 50,000/month)
• Paid by ČSSZ (Social Security)

Otcovská (paternity leave): 2 weeks at 70%, to be taken within 6 weeks after birth.

Nurseries — Mateřské školy and jesle

Place guaranteed in kindergarten from age 3 (free at age 5 in public — last year compulsory):

• Modest public fees: CZK 200–800/month by municipality
• Public nurseries (jesle): limited number, ~CZK 3,000–8,000/month
• Dětské skupiny programme: subsidised company/association nurseries
