Paid by the Finanzamt (tax administration) to all residents with children:

• 0–2: €138.40/month
• 3–9: €148.00/month
• 10–18: €171.80/month
• 19–24 (studying): €191.60/month
• Back-to-school bonus: €116.10 for ages 6–15 in September

Geschwisterstaffelung — large-family bonus

Monthly top-up added to Familienbeihilfe:

• 2 children: +€8.20/month per child
• 3 children: +€20.20/month per child
• 4 children: +€30.80/month per child
• 5 children: +€37.20/month per child
• 6 children: +€41.50/month per child
• 7+ children: +€60.40/month per child

Familienbonus Plus — tax credit

Family tax credit introduced in 2019:

• €2,000/year per child under 18
• €700/year per child 18–24 (student)
• Offset against income tax
• Can be split 50/50 between parents or fully claimed by one

Kinderbetreuungsgeld — parental leave

5 options to choose from (Kinderbetreuungsgeld account + income variant):

• Option 1: €14.53/day (~€436/month) until 28–35 months (with partner quota)
• Option 2: €26.60/day (~€798/month) until 12–15.5 months
• Flexible option: between 365 and 851 days, adjusted benefit
• Income option: 80% of salary (max €76/day), 12–14 months
• Partnerschaftsbonus: €500 if leave shared equally

Mehrkindzuschlag — 3+ children bonus

Top-up for low-income families with 3 or more children:

• €23.30/month from the 3rd child
• Income cap: €55,000/year (family income)
• Paid annually with the tax return

Nurseries — Kindergarten and Kinderkrippe

Heavily subsidised by the Länder:

• Kindergartenjahr: free at age 5 (20h/week compulsory)
• Ages 3–5: heavily subsidised (€60–180/month depending on Land and income)
• Nursery < 3: variable by Land (€100–400/month)
• Vienna: free for all under 6 since 2009
