Ndihma Ekonomike — economic aid

Benefit paid by Shërbimi Social Shtetëror (SSSH) to low-income families:

  • Amount varies by family composition: ALL 3,000–15,000/month (≈ €30–150)
  • Bonus for families with 4+ children: +30%
  • Bonus for single-parent families: +50%
  • Targeted via “Pikë sistemi” (points-based) test
  • ~70,000 beneficiary families

Bonus Bebe — birth grant (2024 reform)

  • 1st child: ALL 40,000 (≈ €400)
  • 2nd child: ALL 80,000 (≈ €800)
  • 3rd child: ALL 120,000 (≈ €1,200)
  • 4th child and beyond: ALL 200,000 (≈ €2,000)
  • One-off payment at birth
  • Expanded in 2024 (previously ALL 5,000 flat)

Maternity leave (Leja e lindjes)

Among the longest in the Balkans, managed by ISSH (Social Security):

  • 365 days (35 before + 330 after birth)
  • 80% of average salary for first 6 months
  • 50% for following months
  • +30 days per child for multiple births
  • Father can take 2–7 days depending on situation

Pagesa e Invaliditetit — disability pension

Allowance for disabled children:

  • Category 1 (Paraplegic/Tetraplegic): ALL 11,000/month
  • Category 2 (Severe disability): ALL 7,500/month
  • Category 3 (Moderate disability): ALL 5,000/month
  • + Family caregiver allowance: ALL 5,500/month

Pakti per Edukimin — schooling support

  • Grants for Roma/Egyptian children in school (ALL 5,000/year)
  • Free school textbooks in public (up to age 12)
  • Free school breakfast in disadvantaged rural areas
  • Vocational Training programme for poor adolescents

Nurseries — Çerdhe and Kopsht

Public nurseries (Çerdhe) 0–3 and kindergartens (Kopsht) 3–6:

  • Tirana: ~ALL 3,000–8,000/month by income
  • 50% reduction for 2nd child in public childcare
  • Free for Ndihma Ekonomike beneficiary families
