The Notifications page of Manage Illizeo sets, for the whole company, what a new employee receives and what your staff cannot change: a required notification, or on the contrary a forbidden channel. This article explains the two settings of each box, the actual coverage of push alerts and how this page fits with the other settings. It is for the administrators of your space.
Before you start #
- Open Settings › Manage Illizeo › Notifications.
- You need the “Notifications — company defaults and locks” permission (role matrix, Platform administration section, Global settings group). At the Access level, the page can be read but nothing can be ticked; at the Execute level, it can be changed. By default, only the Administrator role holds it: this page can impose notifications on all staff, so keep it restricted.
- The preferences each employee sets for themselves are described in Choosing your notifications.
Two settings per box #
The table uses the same families and events as the personal screen, for all the modules activated in your space. Each box holds two stacked controls: the channel box and, below it, the locked box.
| Channel | locked | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Ticked | No | The channel is on by default. The employee is still free to switch it off. |
| Unticked | No | The channel is off by default. The employee can switch it on. |
| Ticked | Yes | The channel is required: the employee cannot switch it off. |
| Unticked | Yes | The channel is forbidden, even to someone who wants it. |
The default applies to new employees and to anyone who has never touched the box: if you change it, it also changes for them. Someone who made their own choice keeps it. The lock, however, applies to everyone, including those who had chosen otherwise. On the personal screen, a locked box appears greyed out, with a tooltip saying whether it is required or forbidden.

Setting a notification #
- Find the event row in its family.
- Tick or untick the channel box: Dashboard (the bell), Email, Push and, depending on your space, Slack or Teams.
- Tick locked below the box if the employee must not be able to change it.
- Click Save changes, which appears as soon as you change something.

The Slack and Teams columns only appear if your company has connected these services (for Teams, with notifications or approvals turned on).
Actual push coverage #
The Actual push coverage box, above the table, shows how many active employees can actually receive a push alert, and on how many devices. This figure matters: locking the Push column authorises sending, it does not make it arrive. Each employee must have turned on alerts in their browser, and no setting can do it for them. On iPhone and iPad, alerts only arrive while an Illizeo tab is open.
Push relays the bell notification: a default push on a row where Dashboard is unticked reaches no one. The box’s tooltip says so.
What this page does not set #
- The text of emails, and switching them off for the whole company, are set in Settings › Manage Illizeo › Email. A disabled email is not sent, even if the Email column is locked as ticked (see Automated emails: catalogue and activation).
- Reminders for emails that wait for an action are set in each template (see Sending reminders until the action is done).
- Security, consent and billing messages are always sent and are not listed in the table.
- Some modules have their own page: the Flex Office Notifications page shows this same setting reduced to its families (see Flex Office: notifications); Training has its reminder rules (see Administering the Training module); Expenses has its own notification settings (see Administering the Expenses module).
Traceability #
Every default or lock changed is recorded in Settings › Manage Illizeo › User Logs, under the “Company notification defaults” module, with its author and date. A save without any change records nothing.
Good to know #
- A family only appears if its module is activated in your space. Employees only see the families of the modules their role gives access to.
- Without any setting from you, Illizeo’s values apply: Dashboard, Email and Teams ticked, Slack and Push unticked, no lock.
FAQ #
How do I make everyone receive approval requests by email? #
On the Approval requests row, tick Email and locked, then save. Also check that the email templates concerned are active.
An employee has unticked a notification I want to make compulsory. #
Lock the box as ticked: the lock overrides their choice.
