# Exporting a report: which format for which use

The formats available depend on what you are exporting. There is no single export button offering everything everywhere.

## Formats by type of content

| What you export | Format | What for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A custom report | XLSX | Reworking the rows in a spreadsheet |
| The table of a system report | CSV | Picking the data up in another tool |
| The chart of a system report | PNG | Illustrating a presentation or a write-up |

## Exporting a custom report

Illizeo generates the file server-side, then hands it to you through an authenticated link. The download goes through the application — a link pasted into a browser outside the session will not work.

## Exporting a chart as an image

The chart is rasterised to PNG on a white background, at twice display resolution so the text stays sharp when projected. On-screen colours are preserved exactly.

## What does not exist

*There is no configurable PDF layout — no orientation, no paper size, no cover page, no comment inclusion. PDF appears only as an output format for a scheduled send, described in the next article.*
